Bildung, Autonomy and Critique in Kant and Hegel
The project examines the concept of Bildung as a critical category in Kant and Hegel, exploring its significance for German classical philosophy and its contemporary relevance. It addresses five interconnected themes: (1) Bildung as a key concept in German classical philosophy; (2) the conflictual structure of freedom in Kant; (3) the ambivalence of the concept of culture as both enabling and limiting human development; (4) Bildung in Hegel as a process of social belonging and critique; and (5) the continuing relevance of Bildung for contemporary debates in education and critical theory.
